Music, Sex, and Cookies

Back when I was in college I used to go to these live music events at that Student Center.  It would usually be small, local performers (which in my opinion are often the best ones) doing songs they had written.  I remmember one time this guy came with his acoustic guitar and one of his songs was called "Music, Sex, and Cookies".  (I'm sorry, acoustic guitar playing singer guy, I don't remember your name, so I can't give you proper credit.  If anyone out there knows who I'm talking about, please email me.)  I liked the song so much I bought the tape.  Haha, now I'm ...

I See Love Everywhere

Some of you may remember that in the dead of winter, I blogged about seeing a heart in my hot chocolate.  Truth is, since I wrote that blog, I've been seeing hearts everywhere.  I see in hearts in all kinds of places- mostly in nature.  In rocks, leaves, flowers, berries, seaglass, clouds.  I guess they could be just about anwhere.  I don't believe in coincidences.  I DO believe that everything happens for a reason. What we focus our attention on grows.  I focus my attention on love as often as possible.  The more I focus on it, the more hearts (love) I see; the ...

Meditating Together

One of the best things you can do for your relationship is to meditate together.  Meditation is a wonderful practice that I strongly recommend for everyone.  Ten minutes a day is all it takes.  There are quite a few fabulous benefits to meditation: clear thinking, better sleep, improved mood, increased intuition, more energy, less anxiety-  just to name a few.  So even if you are single I do suggest that you start meditating every day. If you are partnered perhaps either you haven’t felt as connected as you used to or things are going great but you want to ...

Does God Believe in White Lies?

In case you're wondering, yes, this IS the kind of stuff I wonder about in my spare time.  But not for no particular reason.  A few things have happened that got me thinking about it.  First, our spirit guides have told us during channeling that they get their information from Source.  Then, I was reading a book called Mary's Message to the World by Annie Kirkland.  It's a channeled book.  In it, Mother Mary says some things that sound  more like traditional Catholocism than truth.  So I asked my guides about it.  In my mind, Mary wouldn't lie, but then again, ...

An “Aha” Moment in a Mundane Place

Sometimes I think I have my most brilliant thoughts on the toilet.  I don't know what it is.  Maybe it's when I stop doing, doing, doing and my mind has a chance to quiet down. That makes sense. So last night I got up to pee in the middle of the night.  I was half asleep.  I think being half asleep helps, too.  Shuts off the "monkey mind".  And I was just sitting there, thinking absolutely nothing, from what I can remember.  And suddenly something that has never made sense to me suddenly did.  You know that expression:  "The Universe doesn't understand ...

A Nighttime Gift

Last night I was relaxing at home reading my book after a busy day (read: I was tired) when I got a text from my daughter who was studying for a final exam at her dad’s house.  She had been sick the last couple of days, and I’m guessing the only thing worse for a teenager than having to study for finals is having to study for finals while sick.  She was feeling sad and kind of needy; I could tell she wanted me to come over and help her study.  And even though I’d rather do just about  anything than study (I feel like I’m permanently done with forced memorizat...

Meditation Makes Me Horny!

Yesterday we were sitting, listening to channeling during meditation group, and our spirit guides asked a question- how can someone restore their sex drive when it appears to be lost? And this is what popped into my head: meditation.  Meditation makes me horny.  Of course, I blurted it out.  I’m not one to hold back! Literally very often while I am meditating alone, I can feel myself having sexual feelings arise in my yoni.  (Yoni is a tantric word for “sacred place”, used to refer to the  female genitalia without all the negative associations of a word like ...

No Wonder it Works!

Back in my social worker days, I did outreach to homeless people.  As part of my job, I would attend a monthly meeting with other clinicians from around the state who did the same thing, outreach to homeless people on the streets and in shelters.  Sometimes we would have guest speakers.  I clearly remember when one of my colleagues brought in one of her homeless clients to speak to us about his experience with breathing as a spiritual practice.  (Spirituality can come in very handy for homeless people- and well you know, all of us.)  He described how his breath ...

What You Focus Your Attention on Grows

It's sort of like plants.  If you focus your attention on them, giving them plenty of water and sunlight, they will grow.  So will your "problems".  I put problems in quotation marks because, rather than perceiving them as such, I find it more helpful to think of them as "experiences".  We did come here to Earth to feel the full range of feelings, and to have a full range of experiences, including those we tend to call problems.  But sometimes we get stuck in that space.  When that happens, it is the ego getting in the way.  Our souls may have desired to have every ...

You are Three in One

If you have been paying attention to things, you may have noticed there is something to the number three.   Three is the significant number in the Holy Trinity, for instance.  And it is also the number of parts you have as a human being.  You are three- mind, body, and spirit- in one human being. Many seem to think that the path to enlightenment is through getting more in touch with the spirit (or soul) part of you.  While it is true that most of us have lost touch to some extent with that part of us, true enlightenment comes from a balance of the three parts. ...
