My Unlikely Bedfellows

I guess I’ve been a crystal lover since I was a little kid.  I just now realized that!  I used to have a shelf next to my bed and I had a collection of “rocks” that I’d gotten at those souvenir shops that parents take kids to when they’re on vacation.  Back then, I didn’t consciously know how powerful crystals really are…and I’ll bet that was why I was actually drawn to them.

I’ve had a couple of pieces of selenite for several years now that I use at least once a day when I meditate.  I asked the woman who sold them to me about sleeping with selenite and her response was that different people react differently to it.  Some apparently sleep great with selenite, and some are kept awake by it.  Not wanting to take the chance of falling into the latter category (my sleep is very important to me), I never tried it.

And then in early March, shortly after a bad car accident (read: in lots of pain), I was in a crystal shop.  They had a bunch of those small types of crystals that only cost a few dollars each, like the ones I used to collect when I was a kid.  For some reason, I was drawn to couple of them in particular.  One was a pink opal.  The other was some type of quartz with a yellowish tone to it.  Not sure what that one is, but I know I got it because it was in the category of “grounding” crystals, and I sure needed grounding at the time!

I also don’t know why I started sleeping with these two new crystals.  I had never slept with any crystals before, although I had known that some do.

It has been an amazing experience.  There is a different quality to my sleep when I have my two crystals with me.  I feel like I drift ever so gently into a very restful sleep, and at the appropriate time, ever so gently out of it.  At this point I’m like a kid with two teddy bears.  I’m very opposed to the thought of sleeping without them.

I cannot say about the quartz, since I didn’t write down exactly what it is, AND I can tell you this:  without having known anything about this ahead of time, I just googled pink opal and found the following on a site called crystalsrocksandgems.com. Sleeping with pink opal or holding it while in meditation helps to bring compassion and a gentle resolution of painful memories.”
Hmmmm, how did I know exactly what I needed after my accident?  I’d say my intuition led me.

And, having had that experience now, I highly recommend exploring this area for yourself.  Crystals make fantastic bedfellows!  Where else could you find bedfellows who don’t snore, don’t take up too much room in bed, don’t hog the covers, AND leave you feeling amazingly calm, peaceful, and happy?
