Sacred Union in The One Body

You’ve probably heard the expression that goes something like this: You can’t love another until you love yourself.  Well, another way of saying that is this: You can’t have sacred union in the two bodies until you have had sacred union within the one body.

What AM I talking about, you may be asking.  Sacred union is basically coming together with the Divine.  It is possible to do it within yourself (aka loving yourself), and in fact it is necessary to do it within yourself before you can truly do it with another. And just to complicate things even more, I will say that sacred union within the two bodies can also be described as S.E.X., or Synergistic Energy Exchange.

But today I want to focus on sacred union within the one body.  Many of us are aware that we are not fully loving ourselves, but have no idea how to go about doing it.  I will give you a couple of techniques designed to help you do just that.

When was the last time you walked around your house naked? When was the last time you actually looked at your body, in a full length mirror, naked.  Well, I suggest you do both.  Do it when you are the only one there.  (Don’t worry, your pets won’t tell on you!)  Even if you are uncomfortable at first, do it anyway.  Walk around naked for a period of time, doing your usual activities, and then stand in front of a mirror.  Simply notice what you notice, without judgment but rather with appreciation.  Appreciate your body for the beautiful, amazing work of art and miracle that it is.  Source does, why can’t you?

Now, sit or lie down.  Touch yourself.  We have become a society that is so sexually repressed that we are afraid to touch our own bodies, for fear that it will be seen as a sexual act.  Start at your head.  Run your fingertips lightly over your head, then down to your neck and face, arms, chest, etc.  All the way down to your toes.  Take your time. There is no rush . Give yourself some loving touch.  Love and appreciate your body for the wonder that it is, through your touch.

These exercises do not have to be a one-time thing.  Do them repeatedly, especially if they are challenging for you.  The more you do them, the more you will fall in love with yourself.  And the more you do that, the more you will be able to give and receive love with another, and with the Divine.  And I ask you, if that is not what life is all about, what is?
